This is from the brain of a 48-year-old male with a history of hypertensive cardiomyopathy who underwent coronary arterial catheterization to evaluate for myocardial ischemia. Despite intensive measures, he died six days later from cardiorespiratory failure. The brain was grossly unremarkable. The findings pictured were seen in randomly-sampled areas of the brain.
